about-family-promise-in-whatcom-county

Family Promise of Whatcom County began in September 2016 at a community meeting in downtown Bellingham, where over 200 people from 34 faith communities gathered to explore this new option to provide a response to the growing crisis of homelessness in Whatcom county.

Since then, a Core Team of 40 persons has met monthly together and in sub-groups to work on issues of Host Recruitment, Day Center Location, Fund Development, Communication, and Transportation. “Passionate” and “determined” are two words that accurately define the volunteers who are working to recruit Host and Support congregations, secure a 15-passenger van, raise funds to launch the program, communicate the mission of the program, and to find space for the Day Center. It is an enthusiastic and energized group, helped enormously by Interfaith Coalition and their member congregations. The hope is to have the program up and running in the early months of 2018.

This is a new narrative of hope for homeless families in Whatcom County, offering a tested, effective pathway out of poverty and homelessness. Please consider how you might become part of the ongoing story of hope.
