Camp Out Raises almost $11,000!

The first annual Camp Out to End Family Homelessness raised almost $11,000 for this wonderful cause.  It was a small but might group of campers that gathered around the camp fire to share dinner, smores and the lovely sounds of The Sweet Good Byes.  Later we all sang along to folk songs before tucking ourselves into sleeping bags in cars, trucks, and tents. Everyone agreed the food was delicious and that it was a really great way to spend time together and raise awareness for Family Promise!

Family Promise of Whatcom County is hosting the first annual Camp Out to End Homelessness on Friday, June 28th and Saturday, June 29th.  Join other car and tent camping adventurers who want to raise funds and awareness about child and family homelessness in Whatcom County.  Festivities include live music, sing-along around the campfire, skits, and light dinner.  Saturday morning the smell of delicious food will fill the air as volunteers serve breakfast and lots of coffee to those who camped out to end homelessness!  Dont  miss singer,  Marie Eaton, who will lead as we sing along around the (pseudo) camp fire!

KEEP READING FOR LOTS OF “DAY-OF” TIPS:

1) Remember to bring a camp chair for everyone in your group. We will use
the camp chairs when gathering for dinner under the stars (or canopies, in
case of rain) and when enjoying the sing along and other activities around
the pseudo campfire. Bring rain gear—just in case we are blessed with rain
at some point.
2) At breakfast, you will need your camp chair again as you dig into yummy
pancakes and sausages and fruit. We will be serving coffee/tea/hot
chocolate and will have paper cups available. Bring your favorite hot
beverage mug for optimal taste and “staying green” experience.
3) When you arrive at the Cornwall Church, beginning at 5:00pm, you will be
directed to a place to park. You will then proceed to the check-in desk
where we will a) double-check your registration information, b) have you
submit signed liability and photo waivers, and c) give you a permit for your
parking spot and/or tent camping site. The camper who registered the
team will be given a t-shirt; additional t-shirts will be available for purchase
@$10 each.
4) Porta-Potties and hand washing stations will be available on site.
5) And be sure to note (and thank) the generous sponsors who are
supporting our Camp Out to End Family Homelessness.
